New H1N1 clinic scheduled for Thursday

Clinics target at-risk groups

Waukesha — The Waukesha County Public Health Division will hold an H1N1 vaccine clinics for at-risk groups Thursday.

Clinics will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Waukesha County Expo Center Forum Building. Vaccinations are for targeted individuals only and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis until the vaccine runs out.

The public health division has a couple of thousand intranasal and injectable H1N1 vaccinations which is double what it received for the last clinics, said Julianne Klimetz, public information officer for the public health division.

The Waukesha County Public Health Division confidently thinks it can get through the next two clinics with these vaccinations, and there is a strong possibility there might be enough for future clinics, Klimetz said.

The clinics are for pregnant women, children ages six months to 4 years, people who live with or provide care for infants age six months or younger, children and adolescents age 5 to 18 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications and health care and emergency medical personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material.

The county has held four previous clinics. Two of the clinics were specifically for emergency first responder personnel and two were open to the public.
