Butler hires new village administrator

Village of Butler – After a vigorous search process, village of Butler officials have selected the next person to lead the community's day-to-day activities. The selected candidate has a background in operations within several nearby municipalities.

After a series of closed session meetings that began in early December, the Village Board on Dec. 17 voted to award an offer of employment to Kayla Chadwick for the village administrator/clerk position. The appointment was made official Dec. 20 after officials held another closed session meeting.

Chadwick succeeds Jesse Thyes, who resigned in late November after accepting a job in the City of Mequon as assistant city administrator and human resources director.

Village President Richard Ensslin said about 30 applicants threw their hats into the ring for the administrator position. The village posted the position in early October, after Thyes gave his resignation, and set an Oct. 23 deadline.

"She had some good experience, and we thought she would be the best fit for the position," Ensslin said Monday of the qualities he and other board members saw in Chadwick. "We look forward to her starting with us."

Attempts to reach Chadwick on Monday were unsuccessful. She currently works in the Village of Whitefish Bay as assistant village manager. She will resign from the position Jan. 15, and Ensslin said she is slated to begin her position in Butler on Jan. 20.

According to her LinkedIn page, Chadwick has held a number of positions in the North Shore suburbs of Milwaukee County.

Chadwick holds bachelor's degrees in political science and law from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master's degree in global business from Cardinal Stritch University.
