Hamilton's varsity girls soccer team played three games to begin the season and remain on the lookout for their first goal, with a key injury complicating matters.

On April 1, the Chargers were defeated by Milwaukee Pius, 2-0, then were overwhelmed by a determined Mukwonago unit April 3, 3-0. On April 5, the Chargers lost at Kettle Moraine, 2-0.

In the opening minutes of the match against the Popes, sophomore Taylor Klug suffered a concussion. She won't be cleared to return to the lineup until April 28.

The Chargers didn't play well against Mukwonago, coach Chris Zuzick said.

"They won all the 50-50 balls," Zuzick said. "We played poorly and they simply wanted it more then we did."

Against Kettle Moraine, the Chargers fell behind 2-0 in the first 20 minutes before regrouping.

"It was a tale of two halves for us against KM," Zuzick said. "We regrouped at halftime, made some adjustments and played much better soccer."

At this early stage of the season, Zuzick said adjustments are crucial for team success.

"We moved Emily Fisher and Hannah Conant around, and they really played well against KM," Zuzick said. "I was encouraged with the way we played in the second half. Every game, it's about getting better, and I'm happy with the way we finished the first week of the season."
