HHS tennis holds court in Kohler
Hamilton had a great day on the tennis courts at a tournament in Kohler on Saturday, winning all three matches it played.
Against Port Washington, Hamilton defeated the Pirates, 7-0. Aaron Beck won his match, 6-1, 6-0, while Tim Smith was victorious, 6-2, 6-3, and the doubles team of Pratheek Reddy and Andrew Ullman won a tight doubles match.
Hamilton edged the host Blue Bombers, 4-3. Beck's attempt to knock off a two-time state qualifier, Tyler Lewis, came up short, 6-3, 6-3.
"Even though Aaron used every shot he had in his bag, he could not win against Mr. Lewis," Hamilton assistant tennis coach Pattie Chapman said.
Alex Lutze grabbed a victory at No. 3 singles against Diego Fernandez, and Michael Banda stopped John Tengowski at No. 4 singles.
Tad Wiesneski and Cody Neverman won at No. 2 doubles, and Reddy and Ullman won their match 6-2, 6-0.
Against Ashwaubenon, Hamilton won, 5-2. Beck defeated Mike Wolf, 7-5, 6-4. Lutze won in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 10-2, while Banda won, 2-6, 6-4, 11-7.
Reddy and Ullman also won in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 10-2. Wiesneski and Neverman won in less nail-biting fashion, 6-1, 6-3.
"I was very impressed with the determination," Chapman said. "This is a sure sign of what we can expect with the HHS tennis program in the future."
