Christ the King Concert Series Features Windy Hill Brass Quintet
Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Genesee St., Delafield, will host a concert by Windy Hill Brass Quintet on Friday, November 2, at 7:00 p.m. The event is part of Christ the King’s Festive Music Series. A freewill offering will be taken and a reception will follow in the congregation’s Great Hall.
The quintet will perform Bach, Barber, and Brahms at the concert, including Bach’s “My Spirit Be Joyful” from Cantata #146, “Fugue in G Minor,” “March,” “Chorale,” and “Fugue and Contrapunctus IX.” Barber’s “Adagio for Strings,” which was arranged for the Canadian Brass Quintet, and five of Johannes Brahms’ chorale preludes will complete the concert.
Windy Hill Brass Quintet is led by UW-Waukesha professor of music Craig Hurst. Members are Sandy Frisque, horn; Brett Meyer, trumpet; David Jensen, trombone; and UW-Waukesha music lecturer Tom Patterson. The Windy Hill Brass is part of the many class offerings in music and other areas of interest available through UW-Waukesha Continuing Education and functions to educate, entertain, and extend the community outreach mission of the University of Wisconsin Colleges.
An ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) church, Christ the King has nearly 1,000 parishioners and welcomes new members. Weekly worship services are held on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8:15 and 10 a.m.
