Tune Up Your Instruments - It’s Time for Orchestra!

December 16, 2013—Hartford, WI—The Schauer Community School of the Arts will be hosting open auditions for the Schauer Youth String Orchestra on Wednesday, January 8 from 4:45-5:30 pm. Auditions are for placement purposes and will be held, by appointment, at the Schauer Arts & Activities Center in downtown Hartford. For audition requirements visit SchauerCenter.org/CSA.


The Schauer Youth String Orchestra, conducted by Phil Scales, is a chamber orchestra that provides an outlet for youth string players to grow to their ultimate potential. Students are introduced to a variety of music and musical styles. Presto Stings is open to students entering grades 5-8 who are currently enrolled in school orchestra or study with a private instructor and are entering Suzuki Book 2 or equivalent. Bravura Strings is for students entering Suzuki Book 3 or higher and is admitted by audition selection only.

Rehearsals will be held at the Schauer Center on Wednesdays, January 15 through May 10, 2014; Presto Strings will rehearse from 5:30-6:30 pm and Bravura Strings will rehearse from 6:45-8:15 pm. The semester will culminate in a public performance with the Schauer Youth and Children’s Choirs in the Ruth A. Knoll Theater on Saturday, May 10 at 2:00 pm.

The Schauer Youth & Children’s Choir is part of the Schauer Community School of the Arts, offering year-round program in music, dance, theater, and visual arts classes for students of all ages, levels, and visions.
