Puppets Travel Around the World to the Schauer Center

January 16, 2014 – Hartford, WI –The Wonderful World of Puppets comes to the Schauer Arts & Activities Center on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm. Part of the Tikes in Pikes series, The Wonderful World of Puppets performance by The Puppet Place will delight all ages with entertaining and educational stories featuring puppets and their cultures of origin.

Mr. Punch, the infectious and rambunctious host of The Wonderful World of Puppets, introduces four basic puppet groups (hand, shadow, rod, and string) during a journey around the globe. Shadow puppets from China; dancing marionettes from Mexico, India, and Egypt; and rod puppets from eastern Europe appear in a traditional Punch and Judy style hand puppet show.

The Puppet Place is one of the oldest established puppet companies in Chicago, IL. Their original adaptations of classic tales promote positive attitudes and family values. Musical scores that incorporate classical and contemporary music add power and audio color to performances.

Designed for children and families, the 45 minute program offers a relaxed, kid-friendly environment in Pikes Peak on the upper level of the Schauer Center. After the performance, puppeteer Mark Nichols will show the “behind the scenes” workings of the puppet theater and answer questions.

Tickets to see The Wonderful World of Puppets are $5 for adults, $3 for children, and $1 lap seats (under age 3). Casual seating is general admission.
