Local Youth Perform with New York Theatre Ballet in Cinderella & Other Tales

February 26, 2014 – Hartford, WI – The New York Theatre Ballet will incorporate select local youth when they perform Cinderella & Other Tales at the Schauer Arts & Activities Center on Friday, March 28 at 7:30 pm. Cinderella & Other Tales skilfully condenses the whimsical tale of Cinderella’s fairy godmother, evil stepsisters, and charming prince, into one unforgettable act. The second act follows with dazzling scenes from Soiree Musicale, the unforgettable balcony scene in Romeo & Juliet, and Sleeping Beauty’s Wedding.

The New York Theatre Ballet was founded in 1978 by Diana Byer and is the most widely seen chamber ballet company in the United States. Hailed by the New York Times’ Alastair Macaulay as “an invaluable company,” the New York Theatre Ballet is dedicated to inspiring a love of dance and enriching diverse audiences through is performances of contemporary and classic chamber ballet masterpieces.

In addition to the professional dancers, four students from the Schauer School of Dance will be featured in Sleeping Beauty’s Wedding: Brynn Golubski, Josi Klein, Ella Smithyman, and Jade Yustus. Additional students will perform in A Midsummer Night’s Dream choreographed by Schauer School of Dance instructor Melissa Arnold. Dancers appearing as mischievous fairies, triplet fairies, and fancy fairies include Ariel Birkel, Rypley Garza, Lexi Gramling, Isabelle Haeft, Grace Hennen, Anna Loeber, Rachel Norton, Isabella Redelings, Paige Rusniak, Avrie Schaschwary, Abigail Schrunk, Sara Stege, and Carley VanHeesch.

The performance will be preceded by a free SoundBites from 6:30-7:00 pm. Advance reservations recommended to guarantee seating. In addition, there will be a free art gallery reception from 6:30-7:30 pm for the Wisconsin Watercolor Society. Guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists and view the exhibit. Cash bar and light refreshments are available.

Tickets to Cinderella & Other Tales are $27 or $23 for adults and $10 for students. Richfield residents may receive $4 off adult tickets; discount must be requested at time of purchase, some restrictions apply. Tickets can be purchased at the Schauer Center Box Office Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm at 147 N.
