Award-winning I’m Not a Pilot Coming to Schauer Center!
April 30, 2014—Hartford, WI—Award-winning indie classical rock group I’m Not a Pilot will be at the Schauer Arts & Activities Center as a part of The Booster Cabaret Series on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 8:00 pm. I’m Not a Pilot combines textures of piano and cello, crashing drums, warm vocals, and rich base to entertain audiences young and old.
I’m Not a Pilot takes its name from frontman Mark Glatzel’s musings on the idea of control, or rather lack of it, one has over life. To help realize his vision of intricately melodic songs about this uncertainty, Mark recruited bass guitarist Adrian Esguerra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra cellist Peter Thomas, and drummer Steve Vorass, Jr. to complement his keyboard and vocals. After a year of local recognition as “Milwaukee’s guitar-less rock band,” it is clear that their blend of classical and rock music draws an impressively diverse fan base. What else could happen when a band does a mash-up of a Radiohead hit single and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prelude to Solo Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major?
Voted Best Rock Band in 2010 and 2011 in Milwaukee’s Shepherd Express and Best Rock Band 2010 at WYMS 88.9 FM Radio Milwaukee’s Independent Music Awards, I’m Not a Pilot embraced the stages of festivals such as Summer Soulstice, Cornerstone, Rock the Green, and headlined slots at Summerfest, Bastille Days, and Tosa Tonight. At the 2012 Wisconsin Area Music Awards (WAMI) Peter Thomas walked away with Best String Player following his contribution to Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’ Oscar-Winning documentary, Undefeated.
