Summer Fun with Paint & Clay at the Schauer Center

June 24, 2014—Hartford, WI— The Schauer Community School of the Arts announces two visual art classes in July for youth. These visual art classes encourage individual expression and provide students ages 6-14 the opportunity to work directly with professional artists. No experience is needed; supplies are included. Classes will be held at the Schauer Arts & Activities Center in downtown Hartford.

Due to exceptional demand, a second session of Summer Landscapes has been added on Mondays, July 21 to August 11 from 5:45-6:45 pm. Under the instruction of Cammie Walters, artists ages 6-14 will paint three beautiful summer landscapes: a tropical island, a 3-dimentional seascape, and a landscape with a focus on trees. Students will learn a lot about painting while having a great time creating a memory.

Cammie Walters teaches adults and children through her business, the West Bend Art Center, Framing and Illustration Gallery. As an artist, she has done more than 400 paintings in every medium possible, and she enjoys painting everything from architecture to dancing cats. Cammie exhibits her work throughout Wisconsin and does public speaking, painting demonstrations, and workshops for a variety of Artist Guilds, clubs, and schools.

Also offered in July is Intermediate Ceramics for ages 8-14 on Thursdays, July 24 to August 14 from 3:00-4:30 pm. For any student who previously took Hands in Clay or has clay experience, this class goes beyond the basics to focus on more complex techniques in hand-building. Instructor Andee Warren will lead students as they create, finish, and glaze works that reflect a more in depth understanding of clay and improved skill level.

Andee Warren holds a BA in Visual Arts from the University of Southern Maine. She has worked as a visual arts instructor in a variety of mediums for adults, children, and adults with developmental challenges. She is sole proprietor of Blenderhead Papers in West Bend and Cedar Creek Pottery in Cedarburg.
