Motorcycle Medicine

Waukesha, WI – Wales resident and Life Coach Karen Allen, is one of thirteen co-authors in a new book launching December 1st. Changes of the Heart features Martha Beck certified Life Coaches sharing specific strategies for meeting Life’s challenges. Allen’s chapter, “Motorcycle Medicine,” illustrates the lessons gleaned from her years as an avid Harley rider and the healing capabilities of the open road.

“I wrote Motorcycle Medicine to share the wisdom I’ve discovered while riding,” Allen said. “I’ve learned how to move through Life’s detours and proverbial potholes to find peace of mind and experience absolute bliss!” This chapter also provided the foundation for Allen’s trademark coaching service, “Motorcycle Medicine,” a first-of-its kind offering that combines Life Coaching and motorcycling.

Allen facilitates “Medicine Rides,” on-the-road experiences ranging from two hours to three days, offering clients a direct way to experience how to overcome the metaphoric road blocks in their lives. She refers to her work as “Medicine,” a Native American term for anything healing to the heart/soul which helps one make a deeper connection to all of Life.

“My aim is to inspire individuals to make the necessary changes in their lives so they too, can ride free, both on and off the road,” said Allen, who has been riding for 19 years and has logged on over 200,000 miles on the open road. She earned her professional Life Coaching certification from Martha Beck, PhD., Life Coach, best-selling author and columnist for O, The Oprah Magazine.

Allen claims, “Riding a motorcycle is empowering in and of itself. I have experienced my own Medicine Rides to be the perfect venue for fine-tuning the direction of my life and staying on my own road. It’s also a wonderful way to leave excess baggage on the pavement!”

Allen also offers traditional one-on-one coaching, as well as on-the-road coaching for novice female riders with a desire to collect more miles than dust on their motorcycles. In the book, Changes of the Heart, each featured coach shares a bit of her own expertise on subjects including weight loss, the power of gratitude, parenting, relations in the work place, directing your own life, and more. Together, they show Life Coaching in action, providing useful tools to their readers.

Changes of the Heart is on sale at Amazon.com, and retails for $17.95. More information on the book is available at http://www.changesoftheheart.com. Allen blogs about her rides and lists upcoming workshops and events through her website, www.motorcyclemedicine.com.
