Dress To Get Hired program at the library

Dress to get hired Kimberly Koch of Matchless Image discussed how to dress for the interview in your chosen field on Wednesday, April 14 at the Pauline Haass Public Library. Attendees were shown various forms of acceptable attire for job interviews, with emphasis on making a professional impact and maximizing the crucial “first seven seconds” that usually make or break a first impression. Other topics included how to ace a telephone interview, what not to say or do during the interview, and how to practice your presentation before the interview.

Local businesses provided door prizes including free hairstyles for ladies and haircuts for men, a professional image consultation, as well as grooming products. Contributing businesses included Matchless Image, Kim Meyer of Symmetry Salon Suites, CostCutters of Sussex, and SportClips of Pewaukee.

During the past six weeks, seven members of the Next Steps Employment Network have found new full-time jobs! There are more leads coming through the job pipeline, and members are working hard to pursue these leads. Recent program topics have included resumes and interviewing skills by Bill Smith, Program Coordinator from Unlimited Potential, and Lori Hayes, owner of Next Level Business Training, who presented a program on getting positive results in a down business market.

If you are looking for a job or are underemployed, please join us at the next meeting. This group meets every Wednesday morning in the library's Quad/Graphics Room from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. If you need tips on resume building, interview skills, or finding the right job, this group is for you. All are welcome at any time; there’s no need to register.

The sponsoring organizations will facilitate discussion and networking. These free meetings are sponsored by the Cooperating Churches of Sussex and the Valuing Diversity Task Force, which includes the Hamilton School District, the Pauline Haass Library, Sussex-Area Outreach Services, the Sussex Area Chamber of Commerce, Town of Lisbon, and Village of Sussex.
