Arrowhead Lacrosse Girls Win State Championship

The Arrowhead High School Varsity Red girls lacrosse team defeated Verona 13-5 to capture the state girls lacrosse championship on Saturday June 12 at Concordia University. Allison Benna scored five goals to lead the Lady Warhawks and finish her high school career as the all-time leading scorer in AHS Girls Lacrosse. Lindsey Hucke contributed two goals, with single tallies coming from Taylor Truttschel, Allie Jorgensen,Malory Bahr, Mariah Wnuk, Emily Nikolaus, and Chelsea Mueller.

The Lady Warhawks defensively stymied Verona in the second half, allowing only one goal. Sarah Orsini and Skylar VanNatta led the defensive with six ground ball pickups each, and VanNatta and Emily Nikolaus each forced three turnovers. Goalie Jessica Jensen stopped five Verona shots. The victory returns the championship title and trophy to Arrowhead, which has won the state girls Lacrosse championship three of the last four years.
